Aborigine Night Quilt

Australian Aboriginal Designs arise from a heritage that goes back thousands of years.  Aboriginal "Dreaming Stories" are passed on from generation to generation and explain life and are central to their culture and relationship to the natural world.  Aboriginal art illustrates their "Dreaming Stories" with a series of symbolic motifs.  Each design has a story historical significance. A lot of symbology is used in their art, with each piece of art or fabric telling its own story and introducing the viewer to a wonderful history and perspective of the earth. The abstract dot and circle designs, based on these stories, have become a trademark of the contemporary Aboriginal art movement. My love of the fabric prompted me to commission Kelli Thompson, K.T. Quilt Designs to design a quilt featuring the Aborigine fabric collection. Her research revealed this recurring theme of circles and repetitious dots, evoking a very organic feeling for a quilt that would truly feature the fabric’s design.  This beautiful quilt is exclusive to Pins and Needles. Be the first of your quilting group to use these fabrics.  You’ll be the talk of the town!
